The Best of Winterlude 2018

Celebrate Ottawa this winter during three fun-filled weekends in February, known as Winterlude! There are so many things to see and do that getting yourself up and out of the house has never been easier.  This year’s festival is scheduled for February 2 – 19, 2018.

1). Winterlude Kick-Off Party
Confederation Park
February 2, 2018
Taking place at Confederation Park amongst the beautiful ice sculptures, you can enjoy live music and an exciting outdoor dance party! This event, like most Winterlude offerings, is FREE.

2). 38th Annual Accora Village Bed Race
Dows Lake

Put your team together for the annual Accora Village Bed Race for the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa. This will be the 38th running of the Bed Race, and the 15th organized by the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa.

3). Ice Dragon Boat Festival

For the second time in North America, dragon boats will race down the frozen Rideau Canal Skateway. Be there to cheer them on!

4). Crystal Garden
Confederation Park’s Crystal Garden

“A beautiful ice art creation called “Maple Polar Bear” seen at Winterlude in Ottawa Canada. This sculpture was carved by Alexey Andreev of Russia and received 3rd place in the one block I’ve carving challenge of 2013. Winterlude is our annual winter carnival which started back in 1979. Admire the dazzling ice sculptures created by professional carvers from around the world, who put their talent to the test by transforming blocks of ice into magnificent sculptures during the International Ice-Carving Competition at Confederation Park’s Crystal Garden.
